1919 GIN

1919 is a handcrafted gin & whisky distillery based in Auckland. They incorporate NZ’s finest ingredients with kiwi ingenuity to produce innovative, award winning, first-rate spirits that people can get excited about.

They're driven by a mission to bring more transparency and integrity to the spirits industry. They choose not to compromise on the quality of ingredients and connection to the distilling craft for the sake of scalability.

1919 Dry Pink Gin

Distilled with raspberries and locally grown strawberries it is sure to be a winner on a hot summer day. Inspired by Gin and Bitters this dry pink gin has subtle spice notes before finishing with an elegant yet subtle berry finish. Impressively, it has no added sugar or artificial flavours.

East Imperial Tonic

This month they've released their limited edition Christmas Tonic Water, just in time for the festive season. Inspired by the original Livingstone Raffles Rouser, their Christmas Tonic Water merrily dances over your palate and delivers an extraordinary tonic experience.  This will sell out FAST!  We recommend stocking up via the website here

We've also included the Royal Botanic Tonic.

Royal Botanic Tonic (Elderflower & Ruby Red Grapefruit Tonic) will introduce a subtle brightness to your glass with the refreshing notes of elderflower, combined with the tart taste of ruby red grapefruit and bitterness of sustainably sourced quinine from the highlands of Batavia in Java.

It was created in partnership with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, which embodies over 250 years of exploration, discovery, and the pioneering spirit. Kew played an important role in the story of quinine, transporting cinchona tree seedlings from South America to India. This use of this vital medicinal plant eventually led to the greatest cocktail of all time, the humble Gin and Tonic.  Purchase online here

MeHiko Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips with Cheese

These cantina style yellow corn comes from the NZ East Coast and makes our favourite tortilla. They’ve taken a freshly baked NZ grown yellow corn tortilla and sliced it into quarters then seasoned with natural cheese flavouring. A great chip for homemade nachos or dipping.

Where to go if you LOVE gin in Auckland

Auckland is a multi-cultural urban oasis of food, music, arts and culture, with so much on and so many places to choose from, it's hard to pick our top!

You'll be spoilt for choice with so many fantastic bars and restaurants. Our absolute favourite is Jervois Road Wine Bar which boasts delicious cocktails, craft beers and some of Auckland's best live music. Atelier on K'Road has superb tapas and cocktails and of course finish the night off with a few cocktails at Fitzroy Lounge Bar in Ponsonby.

For something different, why not head to 1919 Distillery for a guided tour and to learn more about how this gin was created.

Enjoy your Spring gin lovers!
